Executive Coaching
I have a leader in my organization with a lot of potential. Is there any way to accelerate her growth?
An individual working for me is extremely talented but has an “Achilles Heel” that he just doesn’t seem to recognize.
I receive a lot of positive feedback on my leadership skills and performance, but not enough “meaty” feedback about what I need to improve.
We restructured and now one of my top performers seems to be struggling. What can she do to get back on track?
I need to work on thinking more strategically, but I’m not making as much progress as I’d like to in that area.
Issues like these are difficult to tackle alone. An executive coach can provide some concentrated personal attention for you or someone in your organization to help:
Determine strengths, areas for development, and career goals
Create an action plan for development
Follow through to replace current behaviors with new skills and approaches
Measure progress
The coach and the individual work together as a problem solving team, collecting and analyzing information and planning next steps. The activities can include some or all of the following:
Using inventories to help assess thinking skills, personality, work style preferences, etc., and explore how they impact leadership behavior.
Talking in-depth to explore and leverage the leader’s past experiences and future goals.
Using a multi-rater tool (e.g., PDI Profilor, CCL Benchmarks) that self, subordinates, peers, and boss fill out to provide feedback on leadership skills.
Gathering more specific information on leadership skills and competencies through interviews of subordinates, peers, and/or bosses.
Developing an action plan to build on strengths and address development needs, and obtaining support from the manager on the implementation of the plan.
Holding one-on-one coaching sessions, focusing on two or three key aspects of leadership behavior.
