Team and Organization Effectiveness
We are so busy that we don’t always take the time we should to figure out how we can be more effective.
Our employee opinion survey results were not as high as they could be. How can we improve them?
Something is troubling the people in our organization, but we can’t quite get a clear sense of what it is and what to do about it.
We are constantly fighting fires here. Why? And how can we move to a more planful approach?
There are times when an organization needs an independent third party to help assess what changes it needs to make to reach peak performance, and also what is going well that should be supported and continued. Organizational assessment can help do just that. The approach depends on the needs of the organization, but often includes the following:
Meet with the leader to get background information.
Hold a planning session with the leadership team to develop an assessment approach.
Conduct survey, interviews, focus groups, or some combination of these. The approach moves quickly beyond venting/complaining to what can be done to make the organization more effective.
Aggregate feedback, analyze findings, and prepare a summary of the results.
Meet with leader/senior team/organization to share results and draft initial action plan. Assist in communication and implementation issues.
Coaching sessions with leader ongoing (e.g., once every other week for three months)
Possible team-building session(s) or other organizational effectiveness interventions, with leadership team and/or with entire organization, depending on findings (e.g., setting ground rules, clarifying expectations, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).
